A Bernal-Mission institution: Emmy's is such a vibrant, vivacious spot, it was crowded and loud on a Monday night with the staff hustling!! What a vibe! We got a choice booth for a big group. We started with the garlic bread with cheese which was crispy and garlicky, big fan. We got the Cesar salad which was good, something fresh before the pasta. The wine selection is fantastic, we enjoyed the orange wine. I got the Cadillac Lasagna and it was fantastic! Super saucy, she was thiccc! I loved the generous dollop of ricotta and how packed the layers were with meat. I could only finish half because it was incredibly decadent. Such a fan of Emmy's and I will be back soon!!
I booked this place a month in advance they were busy for a Friday night as expected. They're a fun casual place to try out. This was my first time at Emmy's service was wonderful they kept checking in on us and making sure we were doing alright. The food for price is fairly priced. They give you a good amount of food and it was all delicious. As my main dish I got the steak dinner. I willl say they're pesto is a bit more earthy than what I'm used to but still worth it. I was able to taste the other two dishes and they were so good. The execution of their sauces was so well done. We also ordered their meatballs and I love a good meatball these definitely satisfied my craving for them. Not as moist as others I've had but still well seasoned and their marinara sauce that comes with it adds to the flavor of it over all.
Came here for a friend's birthday dinner - it was 5 of us in total. Great vibes and lighting. It was a bit too crowded to hear all my friends but I can't complain since we knew they would be the case. Long line outside the place so definitely have a reservation. They don't do more than 3 cards per table so keep that in mind. The food was freaking delicious. I had everyone's pasta at my table and was quite delighted with the selection. Will definitely come back for more! Something that I was disappoint in was how the hostess said to us, " I'm going to have to ask you to vacate the premises, there's a long line outside". None of us would have cared if she had told us to leave in a nicer fashion but maybe it was stressful time for them. She also seemed to have gotten mad at our server for accidently handing us the bill from another table. The hostess for sure was very stressed.
10/10 would recommend and will come back. The owner, Mike, is awesome and has all the recommendations (like getting the hot relish infused in your dish vs cold on the side). The vibe of the restaurant is upbeat and eclectic. Imagine walking into a dive bar deep in the mission and then sitting down to have Italian food better than what you can find in north beach. This is definitely a gem that you need to check out. If you don't feel like Italian, pop in for a drink and go to the back to play some arcade games like Dolly Parton pin ball.
You always need a little spot in your area where you can slam some noods. It's San Francisco, so sometimes it's ramen style, and sometimes it's Italian. Then there is whatever Emmys is. I'm not going to call it authentic Italian necessarily. More like a nostalgic American Italian type of vibe. Classic dishes that are really simple. Casual dining at its finest with an awesome feel on the inside that makes you really comfortable getting sauce all over yourself. The Garlic bread with cheese was standard. Something you can make at home but it's predictable and obviously good. The shrimp Alfredo was nice and thick and extra creamy. Yes I'm talking about pasta, calm down. The spaghetti and meatballs? Also nice. I could have eaten 26 of them. Overall a solid noodle experience. Not going to call my mom about it, but still very good. (4.2 Stars)
GET WHAT YOU EXPECT KIND OF Food was good for Italian American restaurant. The Vodka lasagna bottom layer was undercooked. Ran out of Gnocchi tonight so the server replaced with Polenta. The salmon linguine was okay, no punch and not memorable. If you like sauce, then this is your spot. Generous portions and sauces in your dish. Focaccia bread was super soft. Came with olive oil and vinegar dip. No hot drinks. No teas or coffee. No hot water. KIDS MENU AVAILABLE Spaghetti in various ways, can add chicken, meatball, or beyond beef meatball. My kid was very happy with her spaghetti and left full. VERY LOUD It was busy tonight so it was on the loud side. We sat on the other side of the wall where the dishwasher is because the whole time we could hear the clacking and banging from the dishes. EXCELLENT SERVICE Our waiter was very fast and friendly. I was impressed he remembered our order without writing it down. Because of our food was slow, he gave us extra focaccia bread. FUN VIBES WITH VINTAGE ARCADE GAMES Two pinball tables. One of them is Dolly Parton the other is guns. Have a little small arcade game with pac man and loads other games. 25 cents a play. Bring coins! Photo Booth is $5! Accepts tap and pay with credit card. Art on the wall. Christmas lights everywhere. Really fun atmosphere! We saw a few families with young children. ATM MACHINE AVAILABLE By the restrooms. PARENT NOTES Two all gender restrooms. One of them has a baby changing table. Kids coloring sheets and crayons available. Kids menu available. High chairs available.
As you can see came during the month of October. The restaurant has a homey feel to it. I love how I feel at home here with the delicious food. I've been here three times and will be back a fourth. The bartender was really cool and had some great recommendations. I set at the bar area and enjoyed my plates and drinks. Definitely check this spot out. You won't be disappointed.
Emmy's is cute as hell. It's a cute date spot with pretty lights and cozy. There's also 2 pinball machines and a Photo Booth. Only drawback is every time I've gone it seems pretty loud in there. The food is goood I would say 6/10 and worth it at least once but I think the ambiance scores higher than the food. We went on a Monday and got the $60 deal which was def worth it but I wish they would have mentioned it was cash only so we had to use the ATM there. Even tho the flyer said no tricks. We got the cauliflower balls which were good but didn't taste like cauliflower and the cesar salad wasn't cut up and just a few big pieces of lettuce. Maybe it's like that to be fancy but I would have rather they cut it. I'll still be going back though as it was still a really nice dinner spot. I have added a pic of our dessert!
